Memphis-area Seniors at Orange Mound Senior Center Receive Free Legal Services from Coalition of Top Community Legal Professionals
Memphis, Tenn., August 2, 2017 – AutoZone and Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, in conjunction with Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc. (MALS), hosted the ninth annual “Give a Little, Help a Lot” pro bono clinic at Orange Mound Senior Center on Thursday, July 27. Throughout the morning, dozens of low-income seniors received free legal services from approximately 20 attorneys representing the three organizations.
“Each year, we look forward to helping the seniors at Orange Mound Senior Center to offer important legal guidance. This day offers an opportunity to engage with the Senior Center’s clients, understand their needs and provide essential services they otherwise might not have received,” said Maria Leggett, Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, Customer Satisfaction at AutoZone. “We appreciate and enjoy the collaboration with partners Bass, Berry & Sims and Memphis Area Legal Services to help the community and these gracious individuals for nine years going strong.”
During the event, attorneys, paralegals and volunteers from Bass, Berry & Sims, AutoZone and MALS provided seniors with essential legal advice and assisted with the preparation of advance care plans, healthcare directives, durable power of attorney forms and wills.
“Navigating legal challenges related to healthcare and finances can be a daunting task, especially for those who might be unable to retain legal guidance to help navigate these complex issues,” said Sehrish Siddiqui, an attorney with Bass, Berry & Sims. “The opportunity to collaborate with AutoZone and Memphis Area Legal Services is a highlight of our year, and we are very happy to participate in the ‘Give a Little, Help a Lot’ clinic and provide much needed counsel.”
