Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Mary Leigh Pirtle will present at the 2026 June Chapter Meeting hosted by the Middle Tennessee Society of Human Resource Management (MTSHRM). The presentation, titled, “Navigating ADA Accommodation Challenges in Today’s Workplace,” will take place in Nashville, Tennessee at The Hub International on June 11, 2026. The presentation will cover a broad range of topics pertaining to accommodation issues under the ADA, including:

  • Recognizing when ADA obligations may be triggered and helping supervisors identify potential accommodation issues.
  • Conducting the interactive process effectively when employees request accommodations.
  • Determining when and how medical documentation may be requested.
  • Understanding whether employees who disclose a disability may still be subject to discipline.
  • Managing workplace mental health concerns within the framework of the ADA.

The learning objectives for audience members will include:

  • Identify common mistakes that can arise during the ADA interactive process.
  • Understand how the ADA may apply to employee leaves of absence.
  • Apply practical strategies and best practices for managing ADA compliance responsibilities in HR and workplace settings.
