Bass, Berry & Sims member Denise Barnes recently participated in a discussion at the American Bar Association Health Law Section Fraud and Compliance Forum focused on enforcement trends involving skin substitutes and wound care.
Drawing on her experience representing healthcare providers in government investigations and enforcement matters, Barnes discussed recent scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as key compliance considerations for providers and organizations operating in the wound care space.
The conversation also explored practical strategies for responding to audits, investigations, and payment suspensions, along with proactive measures healthcare organizations can take to mitigate risk and strengthen compliance efforts.
