Bass, Berry & Sims member Matt Curley will present at the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Health Care Fraud Conference on April 29, 2026 in Norman, Oklahoma, which is a training program for federal agents on healthcare fraud-related topics. In his panel “Healthcare Fraud Enforcement: A First-Person Perspective,” Matt will present the account of Dr. Nate Schott, former owner of a multi-location dental practice, in navigating a federal healthcare fraud investigation and the experience in pleading guilty to federal healthcare fraud-related charges. In their presentation, Matt and Dr. Schott offer a candid assessment of the origins of the investigation, the key decision points during the government’s investigation and a discussion of the collateral consequences associated with the resolution of the case.
