John Stemmler represents entrepreneurs in acquiring, disposing of and financing investments in hotels, multi-family communities, office buildings, single-family developments, retail shopping centers, warehouse and multipurpose real estate projects and a variety of other operating businesses. In 2012 and 2013, John completed the purchase of ten apartment communities valued at nearly $655 million, dispositions valued at nearly $490 million and financings of nearly $3 billion. John also counsels clients on commercial transactions and real estate investments as well as a range of corporate and securities matters.
Practicing with the belief that his clients’ problems are his problems, John works as a trusted advisor, helping business owners, real estate investors and entrepreneurs realize, promote and nurture their significant business investments.

Represented a public multi-family REIT in the acquisition and disposition of 59 apartment communities with more than 16,000 units in 12 states
Represented Mid-America Apartments (NYSE: MAA) in its merger with Post Properties (NYSE: PPS) in a $15 billion combination
Represented the developer in connection with approximately $100 million in financing for the Westin Nashville Hotel project
Served as Tennessee counsel for Bass Pro Shops in connection with its 220,000 square foot development of a Bass Pro Outdoor World to be housed in a refurbished and restored Pyramid Arena in downtown Memphis
Represented a public collegiate housing REIT in a transaction to amend, restate and expand its syndicated unsecured revolving credit facility
