Eleanor Smith joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in 2005. She is currently the Managing Director for the Healthcare Practice Group. She is responsible for strategic planning and implementation related to client development, service and satisfaction.
Eleanor has more than 15 years of business development and practice management experience. With respect to business development, her primary focus is on attracting work for the firm, devising strategies for expanding client relationships, building national brand awareness, creating successful individual business development plans as well as attracting lateral talent critical to the growth of the firm. Her practice management responsibilities include analyzing and reporting on financial performance; monitoring utilization and resolving productivity and staffing matters; advising on recruiting decisions; leading lateral integration; and facilitating communication between practice groups and client teams with respect to cross-selling and other collaborative activities.
Eleanor is focused on certain strategic service areas for these practices including mergers and acquisitions, public company advisory, private equity, healthcare regulatory, operations and compliance, and resolving software vendor issues for hospitals.
Eleanor helped design two important strategic events for the firm, the Health Care Investors Conference connecting healthcare providers with potential private equity sponsors and the Specialty Pharmacy CLE program, one of the only programs available for in-house counsel in this industry.
Eleanor is a member of the Nashville Health Care Council’s Leadership Health Care and the American Health Lawyers Association. She is a past Chair of the Nashville Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association. She has served on the board of directors for Our Kids, Inc. since 2006 and was a 2013 Nashville Emerging Leader Award Finalist in the category of business services.
