Juhi Patel focuses her practice on counseling clients regarding the development and protection of clients’ intellectual property assets, with an emphasis on trademark law and brand development and protection. Juhi advises clients across a broad range of industries, including healthcare, food and beverage, technology, media and entertainment, to develop trademark filing, protection, and enforcement strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Juhi was an examining attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where she rendered agency decisions on procedural and statutory issues, as well as successfully defended the agency’s position in ex parte appeals to the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Juhi’s practice involves:

  • Trademark Searching and Clearance – Conducting trademark clearance searches and providing opinions on availability of use and registration of trademarks domestically and internationally.
  • Trademark Filing, Prosecution, and Registration – Registration, maintenance, and renewal of trademarks; prosecuting trademark applications before the USPTO or in foreign jurisdictions with the assistance of local foreign counsel; representing clients in ex parte appeals before the TTAB.
  • Trademark Protection and Enforcement – Monitoring trademarks and domain names for infringement; conducting investigations into infringing use of trademarks and domain names; initiating litigation and non-litigation enforcement efforts when necessary to stop infringement and counterfeiting, including cease and desist letters and inter partes proceedings before the TTAB.
  • Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions – Assisting clients with strategic alliances and transactions involving intellectual property assets, including acquisitions, collaboration agreements, licensing agreements, and assignments.
