Tim McConnell represents employers in employment claims and counsels companies on all manner of employment law issues and day-to-day management considerations. He has more than 20 years of experience representing and advising clients in the wide range of issues businesses face related to their workforce, including wage and hour compliance, disciplinary and termination decisions, paid leave, and workplace harassment and discrimination. Tim has a nationwide practice and handles cases filed in federal and state courts across the country, and he regularly defends clients in matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and related state agencies. He also has significant experience representing clients in an array of commercial litigation matters beyond employment law.

Tim’s practice includes:

  • Employment Litigation — Defending employers in matters related to Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other state-specific employment laws.
  • Employment Law Counseling — Counseling employers on reviewing and auditing employee policies and handbooks; advising on day-to-day employment issues, including discipline, terminations, leave, accommodations for disabilities, and forming and enforcing policies.
  • Training – Conducting training for employers on a wide variety of employment topics, including harassment and discrimination, and for employees at all levels. Tim’s training sessions are interactive and engaging to maximize the learning experience, and he regularly conducts training for employers across the country, including in New York and California.
  • Internal Investigation – Conducting internal investigations for employers. Tim has significant experience in conducting internal investigations for companies including investigations related to complaints of harassment and discrimination, pay equity issues and ethical and regulatory compliance issues.

Previously, Tim was a shareholder and former practice co-chair for the labor & employment practice at Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz P.C. Tim is active in the Tennessee legal and human resources communities, including previous member and leadership positions within the Tennessee Valley Human Resource Association and various bar associations, and frequently presents to local and state human resources groups.
