Jacob Baggett represents clients before the Tennessee General Assembly and the executive branch departments, agencies and commissions of state government. In this role, he advises companies, organizations and associations related to state legislative and regulatory issues.
Jacob has nearly ten years of experience working in Tennessee politics and government. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Jacob served as Senior Legislative Advisor to Chairman Ken Yager of the Tennessee Senate Republican Caucus where he crafted, organized, and actively participated in guiding legislation through the General Assembly. Additionally, he consulted on election strategy and participated in high-level fundraising for the Caucus.
Prior to joining the staff of the Tennessee Senate, he served as campaign manager for former Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell’s campaign for governor in 2018. As a student, Jacob served as a summer law clerk in Senator Alexander’s office, assigned specifically to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions (H.E.L.P.) committee. He also served as an intern law clerk in the chambers of Chief Justice Gary R. Wade of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
