Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Robert Guth discussed the Opportunity Zones (OZ) program, a new tax incentive created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act 2017. The OZ program was created to encourage investment in lower income areas throughout the country. Robert’s article outlined the benefits of the OZ program and how the development could impact Middle Tennessee. “The funds must do more than buy land — they must bring new construction, substantial improvements and/or new business to the zones. Anyone looking to start or grow a business would be well advised to consider locating in an opportunity zone to attract funding,” said Robert.
