Employment Member Joins the Firm’s Knoxville, Tenn. Office, as Two Additional Attorneys Join in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. June 25, 2019 – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce the expansion of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group with the addition of three attorneys. Timothy B. McConnell joins as a member in the firm’s Knoxville, Tennessee, office and Ginette R. Brown joins as an attorney in the firm’s Nashville office. In addition, Lymari Martinez Cromwell rejoins the firm as counsel in the Nashville office.

Timothy B. McConnell brings more than 20 years of experience representing and advising clients across the country in a wide range of issues that businesses face related to their workplace. He handles litigation, training and internal investigations related to state and federal employment law issues, including wage and hour compliance, disciplinary and termination decisions, paid leave and workplace harassment and discrimination claims. In his practice he regularly defends clients in matters before federal and state courts across the country in addition to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and related state agencies.

McConnell is a former president of the Tennessee Valley Human Resource Association and previously served as co-chair of the Labor & Employment Practice at Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz P.C. He earned his law degree from University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (1997) and his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University (1991).

Lymari Martinez Cromwell represents employers in all aspects of employment and labor relations law, working with clients across varying industry sectors, including healthcare, hospitality and manufacturing. She previously worked in the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group from 2008-2018. Cromwell advises clients on the wide spectrum of day-to-day employment law matters and is experienced defending businesses in significant litigation matters related to discrimination, harassment and retaliation, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), wage and hour disputes, whistleblower claims, breach of employment contract and enforcement of non-compete agreements. Cromwell earned her law degree from Emory University School of Law (2008) and her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia (2005).

Ginette R. Brown counsels clients related to compliance with employment regulations as well as complex litigation related to state and federal laws, securities law violations, contract disputes, workplace immigration and compliance issues. She also advises on matters pertaining to workplace agreements, including employee handbooks and policies, severance agreements, non-compete agreements and more. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Brown practiced at firms in Georgia and California. Brown earned her law degree from the University of Southern California Law School (2010), her Master’s of Education degree from Arizona State University (2004) and her undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University (2001).
