McCants Joins as Executive Compensation Counsel as Firm Continues Growth Across its Footprint
Washington, D.C., June 30, 2022 – Bass, Berry & Sims is pleased to announce the addition of Brittany McCants as counsel in its Washington, D.C. office. McCants brings more than 10 years of experience working on executive compensation matters for both private and public companies and private equity investors. Her addition marks the 21st new attorney announced in 2022 across the firm’s four offices.

McCants focuses her practice on advising public and private companies across several industries on executive compensation and employee benefits matters that arise in connection with strategic corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and IPOs, and day-to-day corporate governance. Her practice includes counseling private equity sponsors and portfolio company management on compensation matters, including Code Section 409A compliance, Code Section 280G analysis and vote process, management rollovers and incentive equity matters that arise in diligence and transaction documents in connection with both sell side and buy side representations. She routinely advises c-suite executives and compensation committees of public companies on the design, implementation and treatment of equity plan programs, governance issues, SEC disclosure requirements and proxy advisory firm policies. McCants also advises both executives and employers in the negotiation of employment, severance and incentive compensation arrangements. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Brittany was an associate with Goodwin Procter LLP.
In the community, McCants serves on the Area Stage Young Patrons Board, which seeks to strengthen and support the future of American theater at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.
McCants earned a law degree from the Howard University School of Law (2011) and an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida (2008).
