Two weeks ago, Nashville and the surrounding area experienced one of the most devastating events in our history as some 13 inches of rain fell in the span of two days causing severe flooding and land slides throughout the area. Since then, 42 Tennessee counties have been declared federal disaster areas.
Many of our clients, friends, attorneys, staff and family members were affected. A few lost everything, many suffered major damage, some had only slight issues, but we all felt a great sense of loss and uncertainty.
True to Tennessee’s nickname – the Volunteer State – thousands of people throughout Middle Tennessee banned together to bring relief to their friends, relatives, neighbors and complete strangers. Bass, Berry & Sims was displaced from our Nashville offices until this morning and we were also the recipient of the kindness of others, including many generous clients, other law firms and friends who offered office space, administrative support, and their thoughts. This aid, together with our comprehensive technology back-up plan, allowed us to continue to serve you with minimal interruption. We are extremely grateful to everyone who worked so tirelessly to get us back in our space safely, as well as our staff and attorneys who helped us through this trying time.
Today, we are back in our normal office space in Nashville and it’s business as usual. Thanks for being patient with us over the past several days. It’s gratifying to know we have clients and colleagues who are there for us and we want you to know that the firm will continue to be there for you as you need us.
