What you’ll do:
The Senior Associate General Counsel provides legal guidance on hospital and affiliated entity matters and attends to other legal needs for the Health Support Center (HSC) while demonstrating the Core Values and the High Five Guiding Principles foundational to LifePoint.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for legal services relating to the day-to-day operations of hospitals, surgery centers, hospital employed physicians, and the HSC’s other operating divisions and facilities.
- Possess and maintain an extensive working knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws.
- Coordinate with supervising Vice President, Associate General Counsel, as well as other Department attorneys and support staff, in providing legal guidance.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems and develops strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk
- Participate as needed in acquisition or divestiture transactions, including on-boarding of new acquisitions and compiling due diligence materials for divestitures
- Assist in the development of processes, templates, and training materials, utilizing available technologies to im-prove and promote efficiency, consistency, and compliance with regulatory and business requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Compliance Department to track and handle compliance related matters.
- Supervise and direct outside counsel retained on behalf of the Company or one or more of its affiliates regarding legal matters and manages outside counsel spend in accordance with the Department’s budget.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including those needed to discuss significant and com-plex legal matters and decisions with Company leadership.
- Possess ability to work independently on complex legal matters and major HSC projects and initiatives.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
What you’ll need:
Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree.
Experience: Minimum of 8yrs. experience preferably in a hospital/healthcare environment.
Certifications: N/A
Licenses: Tennessee (TN) license to practice law.
