Our Commercial Real Estate and Finance Practices include representing REITs and other real estate developers and investors in the acquisition, disposition, financing, sale-leaseback, development and leasing of a wide variety of commercial real estate projects. We also represent both borrowers and lenders in commercial loan transactions.

Associate — Intellectual Property & Technology

Bass, Berry & Sims advises public and private companies on intellectual property (IP) matters across a variety of industry sectors. Our Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group has an opening for a patent agent or associate with a minimum of two years of experience. This position may be based in our Washington, D.C. or Nashville offices. Successful candidates will be admitted to the USPTO and have extensive experience in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, molecular biology or similar disciplines. Candidates with a Ph.D. and lab or research experience are preferred. The role requires at least two years of experience drafting patent applications and conducting U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.

The ability to concisely and effectively communicate complex matters in oral and written form is required. Our commercial finance attorneys represent public and private companies and a broad range of institutional lenders in a variety of complex, structured financing transactions and have closed more than $50 billion of these transactions in the last five years. Our Antitrust Practice Group provides sophisticated, efficient, business-oriented and client-focused advice and advocacy related to compliance with and enforcement of the antitrust laws. Our interdisciplinary Compliance & Government Investigations Practice Group comprises attorneys with deep experience in handling criminal and civil government enforcement matters. We handle the entire spectrum of government enforcement issues that arise for our clients, ranging from compliance policy making and training; to routine government subpoenas; to full-blown crises such as law-enforcement raids on company facilities that require a rapid, sophisticated and cohesive response. With our base in Nashville, the nation’s healthcare capital, and our office in Washington, D.C., our compliance and government investigations attorneys have a strong healthcare component to their practices and understand both the business and the politics of healthcare. Our counsel goes beyond the legal issues to consider all of the operational and management issues a healthcare organization faces when a healthcare fraud and abuse matter arises.
