Associate — Healthcare Regulatory

Staff Attorney — Labor & Employment

Our Labor & Employment Practice Group counsels employers in labor and employment matters in three broad categories: day-to-day employment counseling, training and auditing; employment litigation; and traditional labor law. Our clients include union and non-union companies, as well as public and private employers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small, locally-owned businesses across a wide variety of industries.

Our Labor & Employment Practice Group has an immediate need for a staff attorney with a minimum of two years of management-side labor and employment experience, including litigation of employment cases. Primary responsibilities to include, but not limited to, research; project-based work such as audits,  employee handbook reviews and drafting employment agreements; document review, including e-discovery; drafting EEOC positon statements; drafting answers, responses to written discovery,  and drafting motions;  and due diligence in the context of corporate mergers and acquisition transactions. This position can be based in either our Knoxville or Nashville office.

The successful candidate is a self-starter with a strong work ethic who prefers a team approach to the practice of law and considers providing excellent service and results to clients their primary goal. Associate – Government Contracts / Litigation

Bass, Berry & Sims’ Government Contracts Practice Group assists clients in meeting the demanding and ever-changing regulatory environment of contracting with federal, state and local governments; while our Litigation Practice Group approaches disputes by addressing not only the matter at hand, but also by analyzing litigation trends facing the client and suggesting creative solutions to minimize risk over the long term. Our clients include public and private businesses ranging from small and emerging businesses just entering government markets to Fortune 500 companies with complex government contracting issues and international operations. We represent clients in a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, information technology, management consulting, defense, biotechnology, electronics, healthcare, construction, transportation, financial services, manufacturing medical, logistics support and cyber security.

Our firm is seeking an attorney with one to two years of litigation or government contracts experience for our Washington, D.C. office. Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and other federal procurement laws is preferred. The ideal candidate will have federal clerkship experience or experience in bid and size protests, investigations and claims. Admission to the D.C. bar (Virginia bar also preferred), excellent research and writing skills, and strong academic background and a demonstrated interest in government contracts are also essential.
