Wendy is a Member of the Litigation Practice and has previously served on the firm’s Diversity, Professional Development and Recruiting Committees. Wendy’s practice is focused on healthcare, consumer financial services and broker-dealer litigation.

Healthcare: Wendy represents hospitals and other healthcare providers in managed care reimbursement disputes, benefit denials and patient billing disputes.

Representative matters include:
  • Prosecution of multimillion dollar dispute against managed care company for out-of-network reimbursement charges.
  • Representation of hospital companies in patient billing disputes.
  • Prosecution of claim denial dispute against managed care company regarding an allegedly “investigational” procedure.
  • Co-counsel for a hospital company in the successful defense of a $70 million fraudulent conveyance claim.

Consumer Financial Services: Wendy represents banks, credit reporting agencies, financial institutions and collection agencies in defense of Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act claims. These representations range from a large, class-action lawsuit to expeditious resolution of claims by individual plaintiffs.

Representative matters include:
  • Defense of check verification company in multimillion dollar putative, nationwide class action lawsuit alleging violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Lead counsel for hospital collection company in debt collection case involving allegation of FDCPA violations.
  • Lead counsel for check verification company in defense of FDCPA claim.

Broker-Dealer: Wendy has represented brokerage firms in numerous arbitrations related to misrepresentation and suitability claims as well as broker commission disputes.

Representative matters include:
  • Defense of broker-dealer in a $1.3 million suitability claim related to the decline of a bond product in the midst of the current global credit crisis.
  • Defense of broker-dealer in commission dispute with former contract employee.

Wendy is married and has two daughters. She is active in the community, and regularly handles pro bono matters of significant public interest. She serves on the board of her church and is actively involved with several groups focused on empowering youth. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys golf, photography and watching football.
