Val Fulwider joined Bass, Berry & Sims in November 2006 as an associate in the firm's Healthcare Industry Practice Area.  Prior to joining the firm, Val worked for the American Heart Association's Office of Public Advocacy in Washington, D.C., where she prepared policy position papers, provided policy analysis of federal and state legislative and regulatory initiatives and monitored policy trends affecting heart disease, stroke and related risk factors. 

Val graduated from Colgate University with a B.A. in political science in 2000.  She received her law degree, cum laude, from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 2004.  While in law school, Val served as a lead articles editor for the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy and received the Outstanding Associate Editor Award.  She is the author of "Future Benefits? Tax Policy, Advertising, and the Epidemic of Obesity in Children" 20 J. Contemp. Health L. & Pol'y 217.  In addition, she received a Catholic University Merit Scholarship.
