Stephen W. Ragland joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in June 2002 as a Member of the firm.  Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, he was a shareholder with Baker, Donelson, Bearman and Caldwell.  Steve's practice concentrates in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy, creditor's rights and uniform commercial code.  He has extensive experience in business and consumer bankruptcy cases, commercial loan workouts and creditor enforcement actions, including pre-bankruptcy planning and foreclosures on behalf of large financial institutions.

Steve is a member of the Memphis Bar Association's Bankruptcy Section, the Tennessee Bar Association's Business Law and Litigation Sections, and the American Bar Association.  He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, serves on the University of Tennessee College of Law Alumni Advisory Council and is a past co-chair of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Liaison Committee for the Western District of Tennessee.  Steve is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® and the 2008 Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition .

Steve received his law degree with honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1988.  He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta and was named to the Dean's List.   In 1985, he received a B.S. degree in business administration with a major in accounting with highest honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  While in undergraduate school, he was active in Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key, Phi Eta Sigma and was named to the Dean's List.
