In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. Ashley Thurman is an associate in the firm's Corporate & Securities Practice Group. She assists clients with matters related to corporate governance, SEC filings and offerings work, and mergers and acquisitions.

Ashley joined Bass, Berry & Sims after earning her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Tennessee. She earned a B.A. in political science from Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt University, she participated in the Collegiate Leadership Vanderbilt Program, a leadership development program in which students learn from various entrepreneurs in the Nashville community. Her time at the University of Tennessee is marked by her commitment to community service and pro bono, including assisting in the development of the 2013-2014 curriculum for UT's Street Law Pro Bono project, a program aimed at informing high school aged youth of legal issues that affect them most.
