On December 1, 2016, Parker Hannifin Corporation and CLARCOR Inc. announced that the companies have entered into a definitive agreement under which Parker will acquire CLARCOR for approximately $4.3 billion in cash, including the assumption of net debt. The transaction has been unanimously approved by the board of directors of each company. Upon closing of the transaction, expected to be completed by or during the first quarter of Parker’s fiscal year 2018, CLARCOR will be combined with Parker’s Filtration Group to form a leading and diverse global filtration business. Mike Stewart advises clients on commercial real estate transactions with an emphasis on the retail and healthcare industries. With an appreciation for the time sensitive nature of real estate deals, Mike focuses on helping clients manage risk while achieving their desired result.

Mike advises real estate developers, investors, landlords, retailers, healthcare providers and office and industrial users on matters involving:

  • Acquisition & Development – Representing clients in the acquisition and subsequent construction, development and disposition of commercial and residential properties, including office buildings, apartments, single family residential communities, condominiums, mixed-use projects, shopping centers, build-to-suit retail projects, golf courses, restaurants and industrial facilities. 
  • Land Use - Assisting developers with land use and zoning issues associated with commercial and residential development projects.
  • Healthcare Real Estate – Representing healthcare service providers in connection with the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of medical office buildings, hospitals, walk-in urgent care clinics, behavioral centers, surgical centers, pharmacies and senior living communities throughout the country, including analysis of operational and regulatory issues.
  • Commercial Leasing – Representing landlords and tenants in drafting and negotiating leases covering a variety of uses in stand-alone and multi-tenant buildings throughout the country, including leases for general office, hospitality and retail space.
  • Real Estate Finance – Representing lenders and borrowers in connection with construction loans and acquisition and project financings.

In addition to his commercial real estate practice, Mike works with the Corporate & Securities Practice Group on large transactions that involve complex real estate and project finance issues. He is actively involved in the local commercial real estate community as well as several local and national trade organizations, and participates in industry events throughout the country each year.

Beyond his work, Mike has a passion for service and for education. Prior to law school, he taught in the Atlanta Public School system as a Teach for America corps member and subsequently served as a board member of the Tennessee Charter School Incubator.
