On December 1, 2016, Parker Hannifin Corporation and CLARCOR Inc. announced that the companies have entered into a definitive agreement under which Parker will acquire CLARCOR for approximately $4.3 billion in cash, including the assumption of net debt. The transaction has been unanimously approved by the board of directors of each company. Upon closing of the transaction, expected to be completed by or during the first quarter of Parker’s fiscal year 2018, CLARCOR will be combined with Parker’s Filtration Group to form a leading and diverse global filtration business. David Rue assumed the role of Managing Director, Strategic Pricing and Client Value in September 2016. In this position, David leads a multi-disciplinary team in the analysis and implementation of the firm's pricing strategies; project management programs; and the client value component of the firm's Client Experience Initiative, a comprehensive program aimed at maximizing client satisfaction. Prior to this role, David served as the firm's Chief Strategy Officer. David first joined the firm in 2009, serving as its first Managing Director of the Corporate & Securities Practice Group. 

Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, David spent 20 years with Bowne & Co., Inc. in various sales, management and marketing capacities in Nashville, Atlanta and New York. He founded '34 Act Software Development, LLC, an early XBRL enabled EDGAR filing software company, and practiced law with Speight & Parker in Nashville early in his career.

David is a founding member of the Chapter Advisory Board and Treasurer of the Music City Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association and serves on the Campus Renovation Committee at Westminster Presbyterian Church. David graduated from Western Kentucky University with a B.A. in communications and earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky.
