In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. David Rue assumed the role of Managing Director, Strategic Pricing and Client Value in September 2016. In this position, David leads a multi-disciplinary team in the analysis and implementation of the firm's pricing strategies; project management programs; and the client value component of the firm's Client Experience Initiative, a comprehensive program aimed at maximizing client satisfaction. Prior to this role, David served as the firm's Chief Strategy Officer. David first joined the firm in 2009, serving as its first Managing Director of the Corporate & Securities Practice Group. 

Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, David spent 20 years with Bowne & Co., Inc. in various sales, management and marketing capacities in Nashville, Atlanta and New York. He founded '34 Act Software Development, LLC, an early XBRL enabled EDGAR filing software company, and practiced law with Speight & Parker in Nashville early in his career.

David is a founding member of the Chapter Advisory Board and Treasurer of the Music City Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association and serves on the Campus Renovation Committee at Westminster Presbyterian Church. David graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1982 with a B.A. in Communications and earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1985.
