In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. Greg Parker counsels technology companies on the procurement and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He focuses on patent, trademark, trade secrets and copyright disputes, representing clients in a diverse range of technologies in intellectual property disputes across the country.

Greg also advises clients on the acquisition and licensing of intellectual property assets. He provides clients with strategic guidance on the strengths and weaknesses of intellectual property portfolios, including advising on clearance, validity, infringement and enforceability issues to help clients make well-informed business decisions. He also represents clients in the procurement of patents in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Greg is a registered United States patent attorney. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt Law School teaching a course on the fundamentals of patent litigation. 

Greg's practice includes:

  • Intellectual Property & Commercial Litigation – Counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property disputes, including complex patent, trade secrets, copyright, trademark, and unfair competition litigation, as well as related antitrust matters. 
  • Intellectual Property & Technology – Assisting clients with strategic alliances and transactions involving intellectual property assets, including acquisitions, collaboration agreements, and supply and licensing agreements.
  • Patent Prosecution & USPTO Proceedings – Assisting clients in developing intellectual property protection strategies, including preparing and filing applications with the USPTO, coordinating counterpart filings throughout the world, and representing clients in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. 

Prior to joining the firm, Greg practiced in the New York office of White & Case LLP. He earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to attending law school, Greg studied Molecular and Cellular Biology at Vanderbilt University.
