In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. Bill represents a wide variety of clients – including a number of Fortune 500 companies – from a broad scope of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, retail, education and healthcare. With a wealth of experience in both traditional labor matters and employment discrimination cases, Bill's practice involves:

  • Traditional Labor Matters – Union organizing, collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, and representation in connection with arbitration cases arising out of contract issues and disciplinary actions.
  • Employment Discrimination – Defending a broad range of employment discrimination cases brought under federal and state law, including tenure denial cases and student lawsuits.
  • Labor & Employment Law – Providing advice on day-to-day labor and employment law issues for both union and non-union clients; handling non-compete cases, both to enforce provisions and defend employers and their employees against their enforcement. 

Bill has spent much of his career in service to Bass, Berry & Sims and the community. He is a former Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group and served as managing partner of the firm from 1987-1992. Bill is a Tennessee Rule 31 General Civil mediator.
