Wendee is a Member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation and appeals, including contract disputes, software and technology, and intellectual property cases. She also counsels, investigates, and litigates on a wide range of data security, privacy & cyberliability matters.

  • Data Security, Privacy & Cyberliability – For more than six years, Wendee has focused a significant portion of her practice on data security, privacy & cyberliability matters. She has worked with clients in all industry sectors - including healthcare, financial services, payment processing, retail, and information brokerage – on matters involving proactive data security, reactive investigation and response, and an assorted variety of other cyber malfeasance and compliance issues. Wendee regularly speaks to client groups and industry organizations about best practices for complying with state data protection statutes, HIPAA/HITECH, the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act, and the PCI Standards.

  • Intellectual Property and Technology – Wendee's litigation practice focuses on intellectual property and technology cases, with an emphasis on software and healthcare technology. She represents clients in pre-litigation conflict resolution negotiations as well as federal and state litigation and arbitration proceedings. Wendee's experience includes disputes over copyrights, software licenses, healthcare technology products and services, and consumer use of client Internet sites. 
  • Other Business Litigation – Over the course of her career, Wendee has represented clients in various types of complex corporate litigation, including breach of contract, consumer protection, business torts, and technology cases. She has defended clients in the context of federal class actions and multi-district litigation, managed large e-Discovery and project teams, and served on several trial teams representing public companies in nationally-publicized litigation.

Outside the firm, Wendee serves as the President of the Board of Directors of CASA, a nonprofit organization that provides court-appointed advocates for abused and neglected children in the Davidson County juvenile court system.

From 2009-2011, Wendee devoted a significant amount of her practice to the pro bono representation of death row inmate, E.J. Harbison, resulting in the executive commutation of Mr. Harbison's sentence from death to life in prison (January 2011). Her commitment to this case earned Wendee the prestigious Harris A. Gilbert Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award in 2011. The award is bestowed annually by the Tennessee Bar Association to a private sector attorney who has demonstrated dedication to the development and delivery of legal services to the poor.
