Paul Jennings serves as chair of the Bankruptcy Group and is a former member of the firm's Executive Committee. Paul practices in the areas of commercial litigation and bankruptcy law. His practice focuses both in the representation of creditors in corporate bankruptcies and major corporate debtor clients. He has also represented official unsecured creditors committees and bankruptcy trustees. Paul has been involved in a number of bankruptcy and insolvency related litigation matters including preference, fraudulent conveyance and other causes of action. He has been involved in board related insolvency fiduciary duty issues.

Relevant Experience includes:
  • Co-counsel for Capital One in bankruptcy class action litigation
  • Co-counsel for Regal Cinemas, Inc. in its successful pre-packaged Chapter 11
  • Co-counsel for Service Merchandise Company, Inc. in its Chapter 11 proceedings
  • Co-counsel for Bank group in Nu-Kote Holdings Chapter 11
  • Co-counsel to James River Coal Company and its 21 subsidiaries in their successful Chapter 11 reorganization
  • Co-counsel to Murray, Inc. in its Chapter 11 proceedings
  • Several purchasers of hospital assets in new American Healthcare Chapter 11
  • Counsel to Chapter 11 Trustee - Total Fitness Systems, LLC

Paul is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Nashville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, where he was past president for the Section of Commercial, Bankruptcy and Banking Law. In 2005, he was named to the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals. Paul is listed in Best Lawyers®, has been named one of the best bankruptcy lawyers by Business Tennessee magazine since 2004 and one of Tennessee's leading bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation lawyers by Chambers USA. For the past four years, he has been listed in the Nashville Business Journal's Best of the Bar, a distinction earned exclusively by nominations from other attorneys. In 2006, Paul was listed in the Lawdragon 500 New Stars, New Worlds. Paul recently completed the American Bankruptcy Institute's inaugural 40-hour Bankruptcy Mediator Training.
