Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices
We recognize and appreciate the hostile and volatile environment facing the manufacturers of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. To meet those challenges, we provide clients with exceptional capabilities, experience and resources in the sub-specialty of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. Our attorneys handle a variety of complex mass tort litigation, MDLs and class action cases, as well as high-risk individual suits against manufacturers. With a large and well-trained staff of attorneys, paralegals and nurses, we focus on handling products liability matters in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while never losing sight of the importance of a successful outcome in every case.
For more than 20 years, our attorneys have participated in many of the nation's major mass tort cases, including DES, fen-phen, Zyprexa, breast implants, artificial heart valves, pedicle screw spinal implants, PPA, Omniflox, Prozac, and Lotronex, just to name a few. We have the resources and expertise to manage a large docket of cases in multiple venues, and we employ the latest technology to efficiently and effectively manage the cases. On some occasions, we serve as local counsel and work closely with national and in-house counsel. Although our litigation practice knows no geographical boundaries, we have an in-depth understanding of the judges, venues and juries in Tennessee.
From time to time, we are asked to assist with recalls, product withdrawals and regulatory actions by the FDA and other agencies. We also frequently consult with clients regarding warranties, contracts, indemnities and insurance coverage for products liability claims.
We have strong ties with Tennessee's expansive medical community, allowing us to locate and manage expert witnesses for our clients. For decades we have represented Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, one of the nation's leading teaching and medical research facilities. Our attorneys also have close contacts and ties with the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. These strong ties and valuable contacts allow us to develop the expert witness component that is key to an effective products liability defense whether at the local, regional or national level.
Whether the matter involves a single suit or a large docket of cases, Bass, Berry & Sims has the experience and resources to provide quality representation to the manufacturer, from inception through resolution.
