In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. Michael Moschel Comments on Impact of New Overtime Pay Rule for Businesses

Bass, Berry & Sims attorney Michael Moschel provided comments for an article in The Tennessean on the impact the new overtime pay rule will have for Tennessee businesses. The new federal rule, to take effect December 1, 2016, will more than double the salary level for those employees classified as exempt from overtime pay from the current level of $23,660 to the new level of $47,476, or $913 per week. As Michael points out in the article, businesses may have to "'change the way they are setting up their compensation systems to comply with the law.'"
