On December 1, 2016, Parker Hannifin Corporation and CLARCOR Inc. announced that the companies have entered into a definitive agreement under which Parker will acquire CLARCOR for approximately $4.3 billion in cash, including the assumption of net debt. The transaction has been unanimously approved by the board of directors of each company. Upon closing of the transaction, expected to be completed by or during the first quarter of Parker’s fiscal year 2018, CLARCOR will be combined with Parker’s Filtration Group to form a leading and diverse global filtration business. Benchmark Litigation 2016 Recognizes Firm and Attorneys from Bass, Berry & Sims

Bass, Berry & Sims was named as one of the state's "Highly Recommended Firms" in the 2016 edition of Benchmark Litigation. In the description of the firm, Benchmark Litigation cites several factors for the distinction, including the firm's "strong emphasis on diversity, employing a higher percentage of women than many of its competitors, and prioritizing the hiring of women and minorities in its recruitment program." Benchmark's research also found that "[t]he firm boasts an esteemed corporate practice that complements its proven litigation capabilities."

In addition, seven of the firm's attorneys were recognized by the publication. The following members were listed as "Local Litigation Stars" in Tennessee:
