In June 2016, AmSurg Corp. and Envision Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (Envision) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the merger, which is expected to be tax-free to the shareholders of both organizations, the combined company will be named Envision Healthcare Corporation and co-headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company's common stock is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol: EVHC. Bass, Berry & Sims served as lead counsel on the transaction, led by Jim Jenkins. AHLA Ranks Bass, Berry & Sims in Top 20 of Largest Healthcare Firms in the Nation

American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) released its 2015 list of Largest Healthcare Law Firms in the nation and recognized Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in the Top 20 out of 56 total firms. 

Results were tabulated based on a blended score of healthcare lawyers employed in 2014 and AHLA membership as of April 30, 2015.

Bass, Berry & Sims currently has 105 AHLA members and is active in 15 different AHLA practice groups, holding leadership positions within the following:
  • Hospitals and Health Systems Practice Group
  • Conference Planning Committee, Fraud and Abuse Practice Group
  • Regulation, Accreditation and Payment Practice Group
