Nashville, Tenn., (October 9, 2013) - Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to announce that Kinika L. Young recently was recognized by Lawyers of Color, Inc. in their inaugural "Hot List 2013." This list recognizes early- to mid-career attorneys who are excelling in the legal profession.

Young joined Bass, Berry & Sims in 2006 and focuses her practice on healthcare, product liability, environmental and mass torts litigation. She has represented hospitals and healthcare providers, financial institutions, and other companies in commercial litigation matters. In addition to her legal career, Young has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee and the PENCIL Partnership program with Antioch Middle School. She also serves on the board of the Napier-Looby Bar Foundation, which awards law school scholarships to minority students.

The honorees in the "Hot List 2013" were chosen through a two-pronged process led by Lawyers of Color, Inc. The selection committee — comprised of the editorial staff and advisers, as well as law school fellows and interns — spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar publications and legal blogs in order to identify promising candidates. In addition, nominations were accepted from mentors, peers, and colleagues. The committee made editorial picks based on research of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments or were active in legal pipeline initiatives. For the full list of honorees, visit
