Mike's practice is focused primarily in the areas of commercial real estate, healthcare real estate, commercial lending and general commercial law. Mike regularly represents clients in the negotiation and documentation of commercial real estate and lending transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, development and leasing of commercial real estate as well as project financings, construction loans, and revolving credit and term loan facilities.

Matters representative of Mike’s practice include:
  • Acquisition and Development: Representing clients in the acquisition and subsequent construction, development and leasing of commercial properties, including experience with medical office buildings, hospitals, mixed-use condominiums, restaurants, retirement facilities and shopping centers.
  • Leasing: Representing landlords and tenants in drafting and negotiating leases covering a variety of uses in stand-alone and multi-tenant buildings throughout the country, including leases for general office, medical office and retail space.
  • Healthcare Industry: Representing healthcare service providers in connection with the acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing of hospitals, specialty surgical centers, pharmacies, dialysis clinics and other medical facilities throughout the country, including analysis of operational and regulatory issues.
  • Commercial Financing: Representing lenders and borrowers in connection with revolving and term credit facilities, construction loans and a variety of acquisition and project financings. Mike also has experience with distressed assets and foreclosure.

Prior to attending law school, Mike taught third grade in the Atlanta Public School system as a Teach For America corps member. He currently serves as a member on the Board of Directors of The Tennessee Charter School Incubator and The Tomorrow Fund.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys traveling, running and playing ice hockey.
