Mike Peek is a Member of the firm’s Commercial Transactions and Real Estate Practice and a former managing partner of Bass, Berry & Sims.

Mike practices primarily in the areas of commercial real estate development, banking and commercial lending, tax increment finance and general commercial law. Since joining the firm, Mike has devoted the majority of his professional time to the negotiation and documentation of a variety of commercial real estate and lending transactions, including commercial real estate developments, acquisitions and sales, construction loans, revolving credit and term loan facilities and tax increment financings and corporate financings. He is listed in Best Lawyers®, Mid-South Super Lawyers, Chambers USA and the Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar."

Mike’s practice includes:
  • Office Properties: Mike frequently represents developers of low and high-rise office building facilities, both within and without the State of Tennessee. Mike also represented the owner-user in connection with site selection, acquisition, finance and development of one of the largest high-rise office buildings in Tennessee.
  • Government Properties: Mike represents developers of office buildings and other properties for lease to government agencies. Past representation includes work with respect to the FBI building in Denver, Colorado, the IRS building in Fresno, California and the Alameda County Office Building in Hayward, California.
  • Healthcare Real Estate: Mike represents providers of healthcare services in connection with acquisition, development, leasing and disposition of hospitals and other medical facilities throughout the United States.
  • Tax Increment Financing: Mike represents developers and lenders with respect to hotel, office, retail and residential condominium projects financed in part with tax increment financing provided through local governmental agencies.
  • Industrial Properties: Mike represents manufacturing and service companies locating in Tennessee, including representation in connection with local government inducements, real estate acquisition and finance, project development and related issues.

A native of Kentucky, he graduated summa cum laude from Murray State University and then entered Vanderbilt University School of Law as a Patrick Wilson Scholar following a tour of duty with the United States Army Reserve. Mike served as a member of the Vanderbilt Law School Alumni Board. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Brentwood Academy and the former chair of the Board of Trustees of the Murray State University Foundation. Currently, Mike is a member of the Board of Directors of the Nashville Bar Association Pro Bono Program.
