Michael M. Collier joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC as an associate in September 2004 and practices in the firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Area.  He has also practiced in the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Area.

Michael's practice includes general corporate and securities law, including mergers and acquisitions, Securities and Exchange Commission regulatory matters, venture capital financings, corporate governance and general corporate counseling.  He is a member of the firm's Internal Investigations and Specials Projects group and has experience in conducting internal investigations and regulatory audits of major corporations and the New York Stock Exchange.  He has also represented management in all aspects of labor and employment law and served as defense counsel for corporations involved in commercial litigation.

Michael graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in religious studies in 1999.  He was elected Phi Beta Kappa and studied abroad at Southern Cross University in Lismore, Australia.  In 2001, he received a M.A. in philosophy and religion from the University of Tennessee where he taught classes on world religions, millennial studies and religion and media.

In 2004, he received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.  During law school, Michael served as editor-in-chief of the Berkeley Journal of International Law.  He also received the Appellate Advocacy Award for Moot Court and American Jurisprudence Awards.

Michael currently serves on the board of directors for the Nashville Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division.  He also serves as one of the volunteer coordinators for the firm's PENCIL Partner, Antioch Middle School.  He was born and raised in McMinnville, Tennessee.
