Mr. Simmons' practice specialty is public finance. His career as a public finance attorney spans almost three decades and has encompassed financings for some of the smallest communities in the State of Tennessee to major, high-profile transactions for the major metropolitan areas in the State, such as, the financing of LP Field, the home of the NFL's Tennessee Titans; the financing of the Bridgestone Arena, a multi-purpose arena located in downtown Nashville, which is the home of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League; financings by various energy acquisition corporations formed under Tennessee's energy acquisition corporation statute, including financings to purchase long-term supplies of energy; and developing the use of public building authorities in Tennessee as a financing mechanism.

Mr. Simmons is a native Kentuckian. He spent two years in the United States Air Force as a missile launch officer where he also obtained a Master of Science in economics from South Dakota State University.
