Kristen Collier Wright Completes Management Training Program
(Memphis, Tenn. – September 2, 2010) Kristen Collier Wright, of Forrest City, Ark., and a Member of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in Memphis, Tenn., was selected as the firm’s representative to attend a special management program offered through the Lex Mundi Institute. Wright, who was named a Member of the firm earlier this year, was one of 23 attorneys from 20 different jurisdictions in 16 countries to participate in the program.
The intensive eight-day Foundation Management training program was held in Monterey, Calif., in late August. This program provided new law firm partners with the skills and substantive training needed to assume leadership and management roles at their firms. The courses covered advanced legal writing and editing, professional values, strategic planning, leadership development, law firm finances, and business development and client relations. The impressive international faculty included academics, in-house counsel, well-known consultants and senior Lex Mundi member firm lawyers who taught through interactive lectures, group discussion exercises and individual skills sessions.
"This was a career-changing experience for me," said Wright. "I learned so much not only from the exceptional faculty, but also from the other attorneys from all over the world who share similar practices, goals, and challenges. I was honored to have been given the opportunity to attend and look forward to implementing my new knowledge at the firm and cultivating the life-long friendships I gained."
Each participant was asked to give short presentations about themselves and his/her firm throughout the program. According to participants, one of the highlights of the conference came when Wright demonstrated for lawyers from around the world how an Arkansas Razorback calls the hogs.
Wright focuses her legal practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on bankruptcy litigation. She is experienced in all levels of civil litigation, with an extensive practice in Arkansas, Tennessee, and federal courts, including practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She serves on Bass, Berry & Sims' Law School Recruiting Committee and the Diversity Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the MidSouth Commercial Law Institute.
Wright is the daughter of Joan and Edward Collier of Forrest City and the granddaughter of Syble and Francis McCain of Widener. She is married to Marshall Wright, a partner with the law firm of Sharpe Beaver Cline & Wright in Forrest City, and they are the parents of five-year-old twins, Collier and Syble.
