Justin concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial real estate and financial transactions. He assists local, regional, and national clients in the acquisition, financing, development, and sale of commercial properties. Justin also assists borrowers and lenders in structuring real estate and other asset-based loan transactions. He has extensive experience in loan modifications and other distressed real estate issues and serves on the firm’s Distressed Real Estate Task Force.

Representative matters include the following:
  • Assists national company in the acquisition and financing of office and mixed-use buildings throughout the country.
  • Assists a publicly held REIT in the acquisition and disposition of multifamily apartment communities throughout the southeast and southwest.
  • Assisted a publicly held REIT in closing a four-property, three-state portfolio CME loan with Freddie Mac in the amount of $88 million.
  • Assisted a regional company in the acquisition and financing of a local retail shopping center.
  • Assisted a regional developer in a public/private partnership with the City of Memphis for a redevelopment project.
  • Assisted a local developer with a PILOT development project in downtown Memphis.
  • Represents a national bank in numerous loan modifications and workouts.
  • Represented a national bank in a bulk sale of 89 REO properties in Florida.

Justin earned his Juris Doctor summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2008. Additionally, Justin holds a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from the University of Memphis and a B.A. in political science with a minor in philosophy from Rhodes College. Prior to becoming an attorney, Justin worked as a senior planner for the City of Jackson, Mississippi Department of Planning and Development, where he was responsible for development review, zoning, and long-range planning and was engaged in various other municipal management and land development matters.

Justin enjoys running and spending time with his wife, Megan, and their dog, Annie. He also is a member of MPACT Memphis and is active in the Memphis chapter of the Urban Land Institute.
