Justin Pitt joined Bass, Berry & Sims' Litigation Practice in July 2003 after spending two years in general practice at Rochelle, McCulloch & Aulds in Lebanon, Tennessee.  His practice focuses on healthcare and securities litigation, internal investigations, commercial disputes and campaign finance.  He possesses significant trial experience, having served as "first chair" litigator in a number of state and federal court cases.

Aside from litigating and conducting internal investigations, Mr. Pitt counsels the firm's clients on identifying and resolving potential disputes before they result in litigation.  Even where litigation may be inevitable, Mr. Pitt works to ensure the firm's clients are prepared, including working with the client to identify challenges related to electronic document discovery, hostile former employees and the potential for alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Pitt is a member of the firm's Recruiting, Associate Orientation and Campaign Finance & Government Committees.  He also leads the firm's Pro Bono Adoption Initiative and the 21st Amendment Society.

Outside of the firm, Mr. Pitt serves on the Greater Nashville Area Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society and is active in state and local politics.  He has been a professor of Business Law and Ethics at Aquinas College in Nashville and, prior to law school, was a football coach at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Mr. Pitt received his B.A., cum laude with honors, from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law, where he was a William H. Webster Society Fellow and a member of the Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers.
