Julie Jones joined the firm in 1979 following a clerkship for the honorable L. Clure Morton, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, and has been a Member since 1985.  Her practice centers on general commercial law with an emphasis in secured transactions and commercial lending law, especially entertainment and intellectual property lending, asset-based lending, service industries and manufacturers lending, motor vehicle fleet financing and equipment leasing, representing lessees, lessors and debt funders.

Ms. Jones is listed in The Best Lawyers in America®.  She is a national panel member of the American Arbitration Association and is a past director of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute.  She was instrumental in the passage of UCC Article 2A--Leasing in Tennessee and served as a member of the state's Legislative Study Committee on that legislation.  She was a judge on the Tennessee Court of the Judiciary for eight years and served on that court's legislative and rules committee and as a panel presiding judge.  She held the Middle Tennessee seat on the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Bar Association for three years and served as chair of the TBA's Business Law Section's Special Legislative Committee on the application of Tennessee's recording tax statute in multi-state transactions.  Her other bar association activities include memberships in the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations, the Lawyers' Association for Women and its state-wide affiliation, TLAW, and service in a variety of leadership roles, including past terms as president of the Lawyers' Association for Women and Secretary-Treasurer of the Tennessee Bar Association.  She is a fellow of the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar Foundations and served as the treasurer and a trustee of the Tennessee Bar Foundation.  She was a master of the bench in Harry Phillips American Inn of Court for four years, and served as counselor (vice president) of the Inn.  She now sits as a Hearing Committee Member for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility.

While in law school at the University of Tennessee, Ms. Jones served as editor-in-chief of the Tennessee Law Review and upon graduation was named outstanding graduate and made a member of the Order of the Coif.  She has continued her involvement with the law school, first serving on the Dean's Advisory Council and now serving on the Dean's Circle, which she chaired in 1993-94.  Her community activities include membership in the West End United Methodist Church and past service on the financial advisory board of the national Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.  She served for several years on the board of directors of Crittenton Services, Inc.
