Jonathan joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in 2011 as an associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice, where he is member of the Business Disputes and Products, Torts, and Insurance practice groups.

Business Disputes: Jonathan has represented businesses in an assortment of cases involving breach of contract actions, shareholder derivative actions, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and other commercial tort actions.

Products, Torts, and Insurance: Jonathan has represented pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in various product liability actions.

Representative Matters Include:
  • Successfully represented AutoZone, Inc. in consolidated adversary proceedings brought by Chapter 7 Trustee alleging approximately $12 million in claims involving preferential transfers, turnover of estate property and recovery of accounts receivable. Jonathan worked extensively on discovery, pre-trial, and post-trial matters, including obtaining sanction award against opposing counsel and the Chapter 7 Trustee, jointly and severally, for nearly $36,000 in costs for vexatious and harassing litigation.
  • Resolution by summary judgment in favor of a major pharmaceutical company in product liability action arising from the use of the company’s arthritis medication.
  • Representation of a public company in shareholder derivative class action lawsuit. Jonathan worked extensively on the discovery side of the litigation, which included successfully obtaining document production from broker-dealers across the country through multi-state subpoena issuance.
  • Representation of closely-held corporation in shareholder derivative action alleging breach of corporate duties, fraud, intentional and negligent misrepresentation, and civil conspiracy.
  • Representation of Limited Liability Company in breach of contract action against credit card payment processing merchant.

Jonathan earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis School of Law. Prior to law school, Jonathan attended Rhodes College where he graduated with a B.A. in Religious Studies. While at Rhodes, Jonathan was a four-year letterman on the varsity soccer team. After graduating from law school, Jonathan served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Jon Phipps McCalla in the Western District of Tennessee.
