E. Warner Bass Honored by Friends of Warner Parks
E. Warner Bass, member at the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC and a former managing partner, has been honored by the Friends of Warner Parks, an organization dedicated to the preservation, protection, and stewardship of Percy and Edwin Warner Parks in Nashville, Tennessee. At the 2009 Friends of Warner Parks annual fundraiser, Board President Lawson Allen announced that the Best Friend Award, given in recognition of extraordinary commitment to the Warner Parks, would be renamed the Warner Bass Best Friend Award.
"Whatever your charitable passion might be, no one can argue the contribution that Warner Parks makes to the life of Nashville," said Keith Simmons, managing partner at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. "To have a park of the size and beauty of Warner Parks so close to the population centers of Middle Tennessee is really special. Warner has been a giant in helping preserve the parks properties. For the last several years, Warner and others have been working to acquire a very large tract of old growth forest on Highway 100, commonly referred to as the Hill property, adjacent to the existing parks properties. The Hill property ecosystem is unique. If it were to vanish, we would never see one like it again. Warner is a great ambassador for the firm and an extraordinary contributor to the lives of hundreds of Middle Tennesseans who find joy and tranquility in the Warner Parks."
The award was presented to Lucius Burch, a premier land conservationist who has played a major role in two recent capital campaigns for land acquisition. Bass presented him with a handsome Pennsylvania Bluestone table inscribed with the Friends of Warner Parks logo of the tree and heart.
