Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Affinity Group

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Affinity Group is the newest affinity group at Bass, Berry & Sims. The formation of this group raises awareness and visibility within the firm of our need to be welcoming in all forms of diversity, including sexual orientation. Members support each other and provide a voice to the firm to ensure equal opportunity and professional development for our LGBT attorneys.

The goals of the group include:

• Meeting on a regular basis to share and address areas of concern regarding LGBT diversity at Bass, Berry & Sims
• Reviewing and commenting on the firm’s policies and practices as they relate to LGBT attorneys
• Providing mentoring and networking opportunities for LGBT attorneys in the firm
• Supporting and participating in community organizations that advocate for LGBT equality and diversity in the legal profession

A few of the activities planned for the LGBT group include: holding regular lunch or dinner meetings, and sponsoring and participating in activities of the Stonewall Bar Association of Tennessee, the Human Rights Campaign Equality Dinner, the Tennessee Equality Project, and the Nashville GLBT Chamber of Commerce. The group will also represent the firm at the annual Lavender Law job fair and conference.
