Cindy Reisz is a Member of the firm's Healthcare Industry and Corporate and Securities Practice Areas. Her practice involves representing hospitals, ancillary service providers and large physician groups in transactions and in regulatory/operational matters. Ms. Reisz joined the firm in 1986, the same year she received her J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University, where she was Order of the Coif and articles editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1980 with a B.A. degree (magna cum laude).

Ms. Reisz is a member of the American Bar Association's Section on Business Law and Section on Health Law and is the past chair of the Physician Organizations Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). Ms. Reisz previously served as a member of the board of directors of the Nashville Health Care Council and is a past chair of the Health Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. She has written and lectured on issues of interest to healthcare providers, including fraud and abuse, structuring transactions, disease management, economic decredentialing and other healthcare related issues. In addition, Ms. Reisz, along with other members of the Healthcare Industry Practice Area, publishes a client newsletter on health law issues. Ms. Reisz was co-chair of an AHLA Task Force that wrote a handbook on representing physicians in 2006, and is an editor on the subsequent editions.

Ms. Reisz's legal experience includes:
  • Representation of healthcare providers in structuring joint ventures, management relationships and provider networks for the provision of various healthcare services
  • Analysis of fraud and abuse and other regulatory issues arising in structuring joint ventures and in operational matters affecting healthcare providers
  • Review of various operational issues applicable to healthcare facilities, such as licensing, Medicare certification, medical staff bylaws and Medicare reimbursement matters
  • Representing healthcare companies in Medicare audits and overpayment disputes
  • Successful representation of both purchasers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions of healthcare companies
  • Development and implementation of corporate compliance programs
  • Negotiation of disease management and care enhancement service agreements with health plans and self-insured employers
  • Representation of hospitals and physician group practices regarding fraud and abuse, physician self-referral and fee-splitting issues, including structuring physician financial arrangements and compensation methodologies
