Bill focuses his practice on complex business and securities litigation, including claims related to breach of contract, business torts, business fraud and the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act. Bill also has significant experience in products liability defense, class action defense, probate litigation and appellate litigation. In addition to his federal and state court litigation practice, Bill is well-versed in numerous forms of ADR, having successfully arbitrated and mediated a number of cases.

Representative Matters include:

Financial Products and Broker-Dealer: Bill represents broker-dealers in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority arbitration proceedings and class action lawsuits. Bill is currently defending a broker-dealer in a considerable number of arbitration claims and court actions arising out of the credit crisis. 

Commercial and Banking: Bill represents publicly-traded companies in contract disputes and other tort claims. He represents banks and title insurance companies in a variety of lending issues.

Products Liability: Bill defended a major pharmaceutical company in diet drug litigation in Tennessee, consisting of 2,500 Federal Court lawsuits in all three judicial districts. He also served as Tennessee counsel for an engine manufacturer in which he has successfully defended products liability disputes.

In addition, Bill represents non-profits and neighborhood organizations to combat blighted, problem properties in Memphis. This litigation has successfully resulted in a number of properties being renovated or demolished. In light of his experience in this area, Bill is a frequent speaker on this topic, having recently given presentations for the Memphis Bar Association, Memphis Area Legal Services and the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services.

Bill currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality, which provides temporary housing and support services for families in Memphis. Bill also serves on the Board for the Notre Dame Club of Memphis. He previously served on the Board for the Memphis chapter of the ALS Association.

Bill and his wife, Lisa, are members of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. They have three young children, Sophia, William and John.
