Bass, Berry & Sims PLC to Serve as PENCIL Partner to Antioch Middle School
Nashville, Tenn., August 14, 2009 – Once again this year the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is serving as a PENCIL Partner for Antioch Middle School in Nashville. On Friday, August 14, volunteers from the firm assisted t he school staff with the usual chaos of the first school day by answering questions and helping students and parents find their assigned rooms. On Tuesday, September 8, volunteers will assist with vision testing for the school’s 5th graders.
Since 2002, the firm’s Nashville office has been a PENCIL Partner for Antioch Middle School. In that time, attorneys and staff members have participated in various activities including tutoring, collecting donations, giving tours of our Nashville Downtown office, participating in "Read to Me Day," providing a teacher appreciation breakfast, presenting awards for the most improved student and much more.
PENCIL Foundation, a nonprofit organization, links community resources with Nashville public schools. A PENCIL Partner is a business or other community organization that teams up with a Metro school to volunteer time and donate resources that promote student success.
 Antioch Middle School offers a very rich, diverse culture with more than twenty countries and languages represented, embracing our diversity, and allowing it to drive what they do and who they are. The mission at Antioch Middle School is to create a safe learning environment that promotes responsible, productive citizens of high character who are lifelong achievers.
