Bass, Berry & Sims PLC to Host Film-Com
The law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC will host the inaugural Film-Com, an annual event designed to draw motion picture distribution companies and financiers to Middle Tennessee. The firm will provide screening facilities at their offices in the Pinnacle Tower from April 13 to 16, 2010.
The event is being produced by FilmNashville, which serves more than 3,000 film and television workers in Middle Tennessee. Twenty-four filmmakers whose works are deemed most marketable will be given the chance to make a 30-minute in-person pitch to executives from The Weinstein Company, Nu Image/Millennium, United Atlantic Capital, The Panda Fund, and others. While the event is designed to build bridges locally, filmmakers worldwide are welcome to attend.
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean announced the launch of Film-Com at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with Andy van Roon, founder and general manager of Film-Com; Susan Bowman, president of FilmNashville; and Mitchell Korn of the Nashville Symphony, who announced a special concert of movie music to be presented April 14 for the visiting Hollywood executives.
