Bass, Berry & Sims PLC Hosts Third Annual Salute to African-American Executives & Emerging Leaders
Nashville, TN (February 4, 2011) – Bass, Berry & Sims PLC recently held its third annual Salute to African-American Executives & Emerging Leaders honoring the contributions made by African-American executives and community leaders in Middle Tennessee. Mr. John Lewis, Jr., Senior Managing Counsel - Litigation with The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, served as the event’s keynote speaker. In his remarks, Mr. Lewis recognized that teams of diverse people bring more creative and innovative solutions to challenges faced by businesses seeking to thrive and grow in an international economy.
To honor the contributions made by African-American executives and community leaders in Middle Tennessee, Bass, Berry & Sims once again presented scholarships totaling $5000 to two outstanding Fisk University students intending to pursue a legal career: Ms. Carta Robison, a senior English major; and Mr. Timothy James Walker, a junior majoring in political science. This is the firm’s third year to provide scholarships to exceptional students attending Fisk University.
The event was hosted by the African-American Affinity Group (3AG) at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. The 3AG was formed as a forum for African-American attorneys at the firm to exchange ideas and information relevant to their unique experiences as minority attorneys.
