Annie’s practice is devoted primarily to assisting clients with various aspects of labor relations and employment law, including workers’ compensation. Prior to joining the firm, Annie practiced for over two years at Frost Brown Todd LLC in Lexington, Kentucky, where she focused on labor and employment law.

Labor and Employment: Annie has employment litigation experience in the areas of race, gender, national origin, age and religion; disabilities discrimination; sexual harassment; retaliation; public policy claims; wage and hour; FMLA; and workers' compensation. Annie has also provided assistance to clients regarding employee handbooks, hiring, discipline, termination, and employment agreements (including severance, confidentiality, and nonsolicitation agreements). 

Representative matters include:
  • Winning summary judgment for the City of Lexington on a claim of termination in violation of public policy;
  • Winning summary judgment regarding a $5 million breach of contract claim against an eastern Kentucky coal company;
  • The dismissal of a complaint alleging race and age discrimination against a healthcare company;
  • Obtaining preliminary injunctive relief for a sales company against a former employee in breach of a non-compete agreement;
  • Receiving several favorable settlements for a hospital regarding multiple race discrimination claims.

Annie is married to Brian Neal, who is also an attorney in Nashville. Annie is on the Board of the Lockeland Springs Neighborhood Association and volunteers at her church’s soup kitchen. She also enjoys competing in triathlons and traveling. She summited Mount Kilimanjaro in November 2009.
