Anthony ("Tony") has represented a wide range of clients, concentrating his practice on complex business litigation. He is experienced in class action and multi-district litigation, with a special emphasis on disputes involving financial institutions.
Commercial and Banking: Tony has represented and counseled numerous financial institutions, recently including First Tennessee Bank, Pinnacle National Bank and Green Bank, in a variety of disputes, including issues related to lender liability, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Tennessee Financial Records Privacy Act, the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, Regulations E and J, the Uniform Commercial Code, and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act ("Dodd-Frank"). In addition, Tony has represented other financial institutions such as The AIG Advisor Group (SagePoint Financial, Inc. and FSC Securities Corporation) and Morgan Keegan in broker/dealer litigation.
On the commercial disputes side, Tony has represented Aon Risk Services Central, eFunds Corporation (Fidelity National Information Services), Genesco, HCA Inc. and others in an assortment of cases involving claims of breach of contract or fiduciary duty, misrepresentation, director and/or officer liability, securities violations, trademark infringement and other business-related activities, as well as suits involving insurance coverage for these and other claims.
Technology: Tony is the firm’s Technology Member, and chairs the Technology Committee. A considerable portion of his current practice involves assisting companies with complex case management and data (particularly electronic data) management issues, as well as aiding companies such as AmSurg, Ardent, Cogent-HMG, Genesco and Green Bank in developing or updating their record retention policies and procedures. He is well-versed in the design and use of creative technology solutions to client problems, from vendor-based options to firm-created custom extranets.
Products Liability: Tony has represented several clients in product liability lawsuits, disputes or proceedings, including with the Consumer Products Safety Commission, most recently including Fiesta Gas Grills, LLC, Marangoni Tread North America and RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc.
Representative Matters include:
- Pinnacle Bank - Tony successfully negotiated dismissal of claims against our client in a case involving outside computer theft of funds, and obtained summary judgment against the customer guarantors.
- Green Bank - Tony is currently handling a class action against our client related to overdraft fees.
- SagePoint Financial – Tony successfully negotiated a favorable resolution for our client through mediation in a case defending allegations of inadequate broker supervision.
- Genesco – UBS/Finish Line litigation. Tony directed the firm’s team of attorneys and paraprofessionals responsible for expedited harvesting, processing, review and production of millions of pages of electronic and other documents in this high-profile case.
- Wyeth Pharmaceuticals – diet drug litigation. Tony was responsible for handling a number of these suits, as well as for management of the firm’s engagement to defend more than 2,000 cases.

Tony is an active participant in the Nashville Bar Association pro bono program, and has been the adult church school leader and senior warden of St. James the Less Episcopal Church. He and his wife Mary Jane have three grown sons -- Matthew, Patrick and Thomas. Tony has finally "hung up the cleats" after coaching baseball, basketball and soccer for many years in several different youth sports leagues.
