Alonda Woodson McCutcheon joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in September 2002 as an associate in the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Area.  Her practice is devoted primarily to representing management in all aspects of labor and employment law.  Alonda has litigation experience in the following areas:
  • Race, Age, Gender and Disabilities Discrimination
  • Harassment/Retaliation
  • Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Wage and Hour claims under the FLSA
  • Wrongful Discharge
  • Workers' Compensation
  • USERRA

In addition, Alonda's experience includes drafting and reviewing employee handbooks, employment and non-competition agreements, and assisting employers regarding I-9 compliance.  She also has experience in responding to grievances within the context of traditional labor law.

In 2005, Alonda co-authored the chapter "Unionization" in the Representing Physicians Handbook , which is distributed by the American Health Lawyers Association.

Alonda received her law degree in May 2002 from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she was active in the Black Student Law Association, Vanderbilt Ambassadors and Phi Delta Phi Honor Society. While in law school, Alonda worked as a law clerk in the Office of General Counsel at Meharry Medical College.

Alonda graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College at Middle Tennessee State University with a B.A. in English in 1999. While at MTSU, she was the recipient of an Otis Floyd Scholarship and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she was heavily involved in community service.
