Healthcare
  • Government enforcement and compliance: Anna frequently works with clients in developing and implementing compliance programs and providing advice on compliance-related matters. She also works with clients to develop policies in anticipation of government and commercial payor claims audits. These audits include those performed by Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) and Program Safeguard Contractors (PSCs). Anna represents clients in responding to claims audits and in the appeals of audit results. On those occasions where the results of the audit are referred to law enforcement, Anna assists clients in conducting an appropriate internal investigation, redressing any improprieties, and resolving any issues with enforcement authorities.
  • Contracting, regulatory and operational matters: Anna counsels a wide range of healthcare providers and companies on healthcare operations and compliance matters, such as fraud and abuse, quality, and risk management issues. Anna also has extensive experience advising clients on medical staff credentialing and peer review matters, including drafting medical staff bylaws, conducting medical staff investigations and hearings, and responding to records requests and subpoenas.

Internal Investigations: Anna has represented healthcare clients in connection with internal investigations regarding potential regulatory, compliance and clinical issues. Her experience includes representing clients in investigations conducted by the Office of Inspector General, United States Department of Justice, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state regulatory agencies.

Healthcare Litigation: Anna has significant experience in defending healthcare clients in medical malpractice actions and other formal litigation. She has served as litigation counsel in numerous professional liability actions involving catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims for a major academic medical center and one of the largest single-specialty medical groups in the southeastern United States.

Anna is active in community affairs, having previously served as a member of the boards of directors for Youth Encouragement Services and the Wayne Reed Christian Childcare Center, two nonprofit organizations working with inner-city children in the Nashville area. She also serves a member of the Advisory Board for the Department of Communication at Mississippi State University.
